According to local media including CNN on the 26th (local time), Richard Herd quietly passed away at his home in Los Angeles. It is reported that his family was by his side at the time of his death.

Reports indicate that he died due to complications from cancer.

Richard Herd debuted as a stage actor in 1970 and appeared in the 1983 American NBC 5-part miniseries "V" and "Seinfeld".

He later participated in TV series such as "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Star Trek: Voyager," "SeaQuest DSV," and "Star Trek: Renegades," gaining great popularity.

He also appeared in the 2017 horror film "Get Out."
