The county supports 80% of the insurance premium for farmers to expand enrollment in crop disaster insurance such as rice, so farmers only need to pay 20% of the premium.
The eligible applicants are registered agricultural operators or related corporations cultivating rice within the jurisdiction.
The application deadline is until the 26th of next month, and enrollment can be done by visiting the local agricultural and livestock cooperatives.
In particular, to reduce the burden on small-scale elderly farmers, the county also supports the remaining self-pay amount for registered agricultural operators aged 65 or older with a cultivation area of 7,000㎡ or less who have an address in the county.
Previously, the county provided subsidies to 3,266 rice farming households (2,797 hectares) last year and received over 2.5 billion KRW in insurance compensation due to disasters such as typhoons, greatly aiding management stability.
The county sent text messages to rice farming households to encourage enrollment and plans to provide subsidies starting in July.
A county official said, "This spring, crop damage occurred due to abnormal low temperatures, and damage from natural disasters is increasing. We hope many farmers enroll in rice disaster insurance to feel secure and focus on agricultural activities."
