[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 27th that it will officially operate the ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education Teacher Research Group.’
Since March this year, the Ministry of Science and ICT has selected 1 to 2 AI education teacher research groups per metropolitan and provincial office of education through public contests. As a result, a total of 30 teacher research groups were selected. The ‘teacher research group’ consists of about five elementary and secondary school teachers. Teachers from various subjects, including information subjects, will participate in activities for interdisciplinary research using AI. They will develop and apply AI education programs to promote the spread of artificial intelligence education in frontline schools.
On the 27th, the Ministry of Science and ICT held the ‘teacher research group’ online via a non-face-to-face live broadcast to share the current status of AI education and technology and discuss operational plans. Song Kyung-hee, Director of Software Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, “The Ministry of Science and ICT will actively support the revitalization of school AI education through the operation of AI pilot schools, enhancement of teacher training, development of AI textbooks, and dissemination of excellent teaching cases.”
