Park Kyum-su, Gangbuk-gu Mayor, Receives Highest Grade (SA) in Manifesto Pledge Evaluation for 6 Consecutive Years

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) announced that it has received the highest grade (SA) for six consecutive years since 2015 in the nationwide basic local government heads' pledge evaluation conducted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters.

In the 7th local government term, it also received the highest grade for two consecutive years in last year's pledge implementation plan and this year's pledge fulfillment and information disclosure evaluation, being recognized as the best in fulfilling pledges from 2011 to 2019 except for 2014. This result highlights Gangbuk-gu as a leader in prioritizing and fulfilling promises made to residents.

This evaluation was conducted by the Manifesto evaluation team from March, assessing nationwide basic local government heads in areas including ▲pledge completion ▲goal achievement ▲resident communication ▲web communication ▲pledge consistency, and classified them into five grades. Gangbuk-gu received balanced scores in all categories and achieved the SA grade with a total score of 65 or higher.

Since the launch of the 7th local government term, the district has actively promoted 101 individual projects such as ‘Vibrant Education City,’ ‘Healing Historical and Cultural Tourism City,’ and ‘Attractive Development City,’ completing 67 projects. This year, it is steadily progressing in seven areas including development, safety, education, welfare, environment, and the creation of the Bukhansan Historical and Cultural Tourism Belt.

Among the ongoing projects, the Uidong Family Camping Site draws attention. The district plans to complete the first phase of construction within this year and create facilities such as a forest experience center and a multipurpose lawn yard to make it a family outing spot for citizens.

Additionally, policies to increase pledge fulfillment rates and implement trustworthy administration are being promoted. The district plans to disclose the status of pledge projects on its homepage and enhance transparency and trust in district administration through a resident jury system for pledge fulfillment evaluation, allowing direct participation by residents.

Park Gyeom-su, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “The efforts to build trust based on communication and participation with residents are the driving force behind achieving the highest grade for six consecutive years in the pledge evaluation,” and added, “We will enhance the policy execution power of pledges so that residents can tangibly feel changes in their living environment.”
