[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 26th that it has decided to return the entire budget for event expenses and overseas travel expenses to overcome the COVID-19 crisis.
The budget being returned this time includes 110 million won for event expenses such as the Staff Unity Festival and the Provincial and City/County Petition Police Unity Festival, and 54 million won for overseas travel expenses such as visits to advanced overseas labor unions, public officials, and petition police.
The city made this decision to share the pain of citizens and local small business owners who are experiencing economic difficulties due to the contraction of consumer sentiment caused by COVID-19.
Public officials, the public official labor union, and petition police recently agreed to unite in overcoming the COVID-19 crisis as the burden on Jeongeup city funds increased due to the payment of Jeongeup-type disaster relief funds and national disaster relief funds.
The returned event expenses will be used as resources to revitalize the local economy for the early overcoming of COVID-19.
Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, “I am grateful for the active cooperation of the staff for revitalizing the local economy and quickly stabilizing people’s livelihoods,” and added, “I hope this will be of some help in a situation where citizens are experiencing economic difficulties.”
