[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil County is making every effort to secure national budget for the sewerage sector in 2021.
According to the county, on the 20th, County Governor Sim Min and Han Seongcheol, Director of the Water and Sewage Department, visited the Ministry of Environment to explain the necessity of the sewerage maintenance projects for rural villages in Geumjeong District and Oryu District, and requested national funding support of 3.64 billion KRW.
The sewerage maintenance projects for rural villages in Geumjeong District and Oryu District are urgent projects to install small-scale public sewage treatment facilities to improve water quality in the Seomjin River basin unit watershed, as various domestic wastewater discharged from households is being released untreated, accelerating pollution of nearby streams.
Additionally, as urban development conditions change, starting next month, the county plans to proceed with the ‘Basic Sewerage Maintenance Plan (Amendment) and Water Reuse Management Plan (Amendment)’ service to expand the sewerage treatment area and revise contents related to ‘Reuse of treated sewage water from Imsil Public Sewage Treatment Plant.’
To proactively respond to securing national budget and ensure smooth project implementation, 200 million KRW has been reflected in the first supplementary budget to promote the basic and detailed design service for rural village sewerage.
Han Seongcheol, Director of the Water and Sewage Department, stated, “We will continue to do our best to improve public health and build clear water infrastructure in the Seomjin River basin,” and added, “We will maintain an organic cooperative system with central government agencies to secure national budget.”
Meanwhile, this year, the county is investing about 15.4 billion KRW to significantly contribute not only to water quality improvement around the Seomjin River basin but also to residential environment enhancement.
