[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Kim Tae-nyeon, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced on the afternoon of the 26th that he would meet with Joo Ho-young, the floor leader of the United Future Party, to agree on the agenda for the first plenary session of the 21st National Assembly.

Kim said at the morning floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly, "I will meet with Floor Leader Joo today," adding, "I hope we can agree on the first plenary session of the 21st National Assembly."

He said, "I hope today will be the first step toward a working National Assembly. I will have an open and frank discussion with Floor Leader Joo and produce good results."

He continued, "Complying with the legal deadline for the opening of the National Assembly is the minimum duty for the people suffering from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19)," emphasizing, "There is not much time left. We will proceed with the negotiation for the formation of the National Assembly with a sense of urgency."

He also emphasized the need for expansionary fiscal policy to respond to COVID-19.

Kim said, "As President Moon Jae-in mentioned yesterday at the National Fiscal Strategy Meeting, we are currently in an 'economic wartime situation,'" adding, "It is not possible with peacetime fiscal strategies. We must push the New Deal properly with the determination to organize wartime finances."

As an industry to focus on in the future, he mentioned 'Edutech.' Kim said, "Due to COVID-19, non-face-to-face online classes have been rapidly introduced," and requested, "On this occasion, the education authorities should comprehensively check the status of non-face-to-face education and Edutech and prepare development directions."

He added, "Above all, we need to examine whether the conditions for quality education are in place," emphasizing, "We must find out the utilization status of digital textbooks and seek improvement measures. We will actively promote the Digital Education New Deal."
