Barogo New Riders Increase by 208% Compared to January

Stable Income Proportional to Work... Analysis Shows Job Seekers Flocking to 'Baedal' Delivery Jobs

Barogo New Riders Increase by 208% Compared to January

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] A survey has revealed that job seekers are flocking to delivery jobs where they earn as much as they work due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Barogo (CEO Lee Taekwon), a startup operating a local logistics IT platform, conducted a survey on the 'number of new Barogo riders' from January to April this year and announced the results on the 26th.

The survey results showed that the number of new Barogo riders in April this year was 4,000, a 208% increase compared to 1,300 in January this year. Considering that it was 360 in April last year, it means the number has increased more than 11 times in one year.

Barogo explained that this phenomenon is analyzed as many people turning to 'delivery' jobs, which are not restricted by working hours and guarantee stable income proportional to the amount of work, due to the impact of COVID-19. In fact, the average income per delivery for Barogo riders has been rising every year: 3,074 won in 2017, 3,292 won in 2018, and 3,416 won in 2019.

A Barogo official said, "Due to the impact of COVID-19, interest in delivery agency work, which can provide stable income proportional to the amount of work, has increased, leading to a growing influx of new riders."
