'Fashion Sewing Mecca' Jungnang-gu Fashion Brand 'Popple' Launch

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jungnang-gu's movement to transform into a fashion city has officially begun.

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) announced the launch of the joint brand 'Forple,' a collaboration between local sewing factories and designers.

'Forple' is a compound word combining 'for,' meaning 'for,' and 'people,' meaning 'people,' signifying clothing for everyone.

The brand model is actress Choi Kang-hee.

The fashion sewing industry accounts for 73% of manufacturing in Jungnang-gu, serving as a representative industry and an important pillar of the local economy. The newly launched Forple is a joint brand reflecting these characteristics of the district. From planning to sales, it involves Jungnang Fashion Sewing Industry, Dongseoul Sewing Industry Cooperative, Naver, The Works, Wunderkammer, Hyeryeon Company, and others, making it a leading fashion brand where administration and the private sector join forces to revitalize the local industry.

Sales will be conducted through a pre-order system from the 21st until June 4th, offering a 20% discount upon reservation, as well as a 5,000 KRW discount coupon event for purchases over 50,000 KRW.

Those wishing to purchase can do so through the 'Naver Designer Window' website.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “I hope this brand will become representative of Jungnang-gu by pioneering sales channels not only domestically but also overseas,” and added, “We will do our best to grow the fashion sewing industry by integrating IT technology into the sewing industry.”

The launch of the Forple brand is part of the Fashion Sewing Smart Anchor project that Jungnang-gu is promoting together with Seoul City. Jungnang-gu, home to over 2,500 fashion sewing companies, was selected last year as a central urban regeneration activation area for the 'Myeonmok Fashion (Sewing) Specific Development Promotion District' by Seoul City. The district is actively advancing the growth of the fashion sewing industry by establishing the Jungnang Fashion Support Center (Smart Anchor).
