Blood Sugar Management, Now You Can Manage It Yourself Without Going Out
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Suncheon City Health Center has been offering free rental of blood glucose meters since March 30 at the Health Happiness Centers located inside the Deokyeon-dong and Pungdeok-dong Administrative Welfare Centers, targeting diabetic patients whose immunity is weaker than that of the general public.
This free blood glucose meter rental project was established to provide practical assistance to diabetic patients who usually manage their blood sugar levels by visiting health centers or Health Happiness Centers but have been refraining from going out due to COVID-19. The program has received great response from citizens.
When renting the meter, related consumables, a health management notebook, and a booklet on prevention and management guidelines for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases are provided together. After one month of rental, an extension is possible once.
Additionally, through one-on-one consultations with nurses working at the Health Happiness Centers, users can receive education on how to use the health management notebook and the correct method of measuring blood glucose, helping to establish a consistent blood sugar management habit.
A resident of Deokyeon-dong who has been renting the blood glucose meter for two months said, “The meter provided by the city has large print and is easy to use, which is very helpful, and since consumables are also provided, I am more motivated to measure my blood sugar diligently.”
Sim Gi-seop, Director of Health Promotion at Suncheon City, stated, “We will continue to promote community-based health promotion projects aimed at improving health management capabilities to ensure citizen satisfaction.”
