[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province (Governor Kim Young-rok) announced on the 25th that it will extend the ban on gatherings at multi-use facilities such as clubs and colatecs, which had been in effect for two weeks, until July 7th.
This decision was made as the cluster infection of 'COVID-19' that started at clubs in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, showed signs of spreading.
The 13 establishments that were previously subject to the administrative order?“general restaurants that, after reporting, specialize in alcoholic beverages and have dancing”?have renovated their facilities and no longer allow dancing, so they are excluded from this gathering ban order.
The gathering ban targets in the province include a total of 18 places: 4 existing entertainment pubs (clubs) and 14 colatecs.
These facilities must immediately cease operations, and violations may result in fines of up to 3 million KRW for both business owners and users under the Infectious Disease Prevention Act.
In particular, Jeonnam Province plans to implement all legally permissible sanctions, including claims for compensation and reimbursement of all quarantine costs such as investigation, testing, and treatment, against business owners or facility users if confirmed cases occur due to violations.
An Byeong-ok, Director of the Health and Welfare Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, “The joint inspection team of Jeonnam Province and city/county will conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with the administrative order and will seek cooperation from the National Police Agency if necessary. We ask all entertainment pub operators and users to take this national crisis situation seriously and actively participate.”
