Various Support Projects Including the 'Visiting Mobile Smoking Cessation Clinic'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 25th that it is promoting various projects to improve the health of residents and create a pleasant smoke-free environment in celebration of the “33rd World No Tobacco Day” on the 31st.
The Public Health Center’s smoking cessation clinic provides various smoking cessation support services such as a 6-month smoking cessation success program for smokers who have the will to quit but have not yet put it into practice, tumor marker tests for those maintaining smoking cessation, and provision of behavior reinforcement items.
It also encourages voluntary participation in smoking cessation by informing residents who do not feel the necessity of quitting smoking about the benefits of smoking cessation.
For students, workers, and elderly people who want to use professional smoking cessation counseling services but find it difficult to visit the health center, the “Visiting Mobile Smoking Cessation Clinic” is operated regularly to remove time and distance constraints and provide systematic smoking cessation counseling services.
To create a smoke-free environment in the local community, the smoking cessation guide system is operated to check compliance with facility standards in smoke-free zones, inspect the location and condition of smoking rooms, monitor and educate against smoking behavior in smoke-free areas, and strengthen and spread community smoking cessation norms.
Kim Sunbok, head of the Public Health Center, said, “While individual effort is important for smoking cessation success, attention from those around and systematic support are also necessary. We will continue to actively support various education and programs to do our best in creating a healthy community.”
