[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] As the trend of consuming content in digital form spreads, it has been found that the use of digital content among the 50s and 60s generation is also increasing.


Hyundai Card and Hyundai Capital announced on the 25th an analysis titled "Digital Content Consumption Trend Analysis" with this content. The analysis is based on Hyundai Card payment data from January 2017 to December 2019 at 10 major merchants providing digital content services in music, video, and book sectors.


According to the Hyundai Card payment data analysis, the payment amount for digital content services last year increased 2.6 times in three years. The number of transactions also increased more than threefold. In particular, the payment amount for video services showed an overwhelmingly high growth rate, increasing ninefold in three years.


The increase in digital content payment amounts among the 50s and 60s generation is also a notable change. Payment amounts for those in their 50s and 60s increased 2.9 times and 3.2 times respectively in 2020 compared to 2017. This surpasses the growth rates of those in their 20s (2.1 times) and 30s (2.7 times). Especially, the 60s generation's payment amount for e-book services increased 21 times in 2020 compared to 2017, and the 50s generation's video payments increased tenfold.


A Hyundai Card and Hyundai Capital official explained, "The rapid increase in digital content service payments and the change in perception toward content consumption reflect consumers' desire to enjoy high-quality and diverse content at their preferred time."


Meanwhile, reflecting the digital content consumption trends across all generations, Hyundai Card launched the "Hyundai Card Digital Lover." This product offers benefits such as a monthly discount of up to 10,000 KRW on digital streaming service usage fees.
