[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] Professor Kim Geunsik of the Department of Political Science and Diplomacy at Gyeongnam National University (former United Future Party candidate for Seoul Songpa-byeong) criticized Yoon Mee-hyang, the elected member of the Democratic Party of Korea, saying, "She tries to follow the path of Cho Kuk in a Cho Kuk-like manner, but in the end, she will not become 'Cho Kuk'."
On the 24th, Professor Kim wrote on his Facebook, "Cho Kuk, who shouted fairness and justice whenever he opened his mouth, was actually a hypocrite who lived a life of privilege and injustice. Similarly, Yoon Mee-hyang monopolized justice by raising the comfort women issue, but in reality, she was a hypocrite with neither justice nor memory," he said.
He continued, "Regarding allegations of corruption, Cho Kuk consistently kept his head high and responded with false excuses, and Yoon Mee-hyang also responded with lies and excuses to accusations of accounting fraud, misuse of donations, and neglect of the grandmothers," adding, "'Hypocrisy and shamelessness'?Yoon Mee-hyang, the elected member, is exactly Cho Kuk-like and resembles Cho Kuk's image."
He added, "Just as Cho Kuk shifts his own corruption and crimes into the frame of political prosecution and prosecution reform, Yoon Mee-hyang attacks allegations of accounting fraud and misuse of donations by the Justice and Memory Foundation with the frame of pro-Japanese and anti-Japanese sentiments. Their tactics are identical," he said.
He went on, "If Yoon Mee-hyang had lived as a representative of a civic group, spending the money raised while shouting justice and memory through her activities with the Justice and Memory Foundation appropriately, she might not have faced criminal charges," he said.
He also analyzed, "Cho Kuk-like Yoon Mee-hyang will endure to the end, claim her grievances like Cho Kuk, and want help from those who support her. However, Yoon Mee-hyang will not become Cho Kuk."
He pointed out, "Cho Kuk was able to play the victim role until the end with the political prosecution frame and rally his supporters. (However) Yoon Mee-hyang cannot counterattack with the pro-Japanese frame because the people raising the issues are the comfort women grandmothers themselves and senior predecessors who have worked together since the Korean Council for Justice and Remembrance for the Issues of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan (Jeongdaehyeop)," he said.
He added, "Cho Kuk holds the lifeline of the president's trust. Compared to that, Yoon Mee-hyang does not have a lifeline as strong as Cho Kuk's," he said.
Finally, he emphasized, "Although the Democratic Party advocates caution, saying fact-checking comes first, Yoon Mee-hyang will eventually be cut off soon to relieve the political burden of the Moon Jae-in administration and the Democratic Party. Please keep in mind that the final outcome of being Cho Kuk-like is a tragedy," he stressed.
