[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] Gym owner Yang Chi-seung shared the difficulties caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

On the 24th, KBS 2TV's 'The Manager's Ears are Donkey Ears' aired a segment showing Yang Chi-seung, who was preparing to reopen his gym, and the gym staff.

However, unlike the excited employees who were happy to meet after a week, Yang showed an unusually sensitive demeanor that day.

Recently, due to the gym's closure caused by COVID-19, they faced a situation of zero revenue for a month.

In particular, Yang described the current situation as "the worst," saying, "In 20 years of running a gym, I've never taken such a long break, and since there is no hope for improvement, the business losses are even harder to bear."

He also added his regret about the current situation by saying, "More than 200 businesses have closed down."

He said, "Because of COVID-19, there are many requests for refunds," and "All the income from several months went out as refunds."

In response, Yang called an employee who was disinfecting the gym with him and honestly explained the current situation.

He confessed, "At first, for 2 weeks, 4 weeks, a month, there is not a single penny of income. Only expenses keep piling up," and "Small businesses like ours inevitably struggle if we completely close for a month."
