[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Hee-eun Park] A confirmed case of COVID-19, presumed to be a 6th-generation infection starting from an academy instructor in Incheon, has occurred in Jungnang-gu, Seoul.
According to Jungnang-gu on the 24th, a 50-year-old man, Mr. A, residing in Junghwa 2-dong, tested positive for COVID-19.
Mr. A, the 19th confirmed case in Jungnang-gu, was identified as the husband of Mr. B (49), the 18th confirmed case in Jungnang-gu.
Mr. B, the wife, is a coworker of Mr. C (57), who lives in Jayang 4-dong and is the 13th confirmed case in Gwangjin-gu, and is presumed to have been infected by Mr. C.
Mr. C, the confirmed case in Gwangjin-gu, was identified as a 4th-generation infection caused by an Incheon academy instructor who tested positive after visiting an Itaewon club.
Mr. C attended a first birthday party in Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 10th. At that location, he came into contact with the 24th confirmed case in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, and was infected.
Previously, the 24th confirmed case in Michuhol-gu was infected with COVID-19 after visiting the Top Coin Karaoke in Michuhol-gu. The Top Coin Karaoke was a place where the students of the Incheon academy instructor stayed.
Accordingly, it is presumed that the 6th-generation infection case occurred as the 4th-generation infected Gwangjin-gu confirmed case Mr. C → 5th-generation infected Jungnang-gu 18th confirmed case Mr. B → Mr. B’s husband Mr. A tested positive.
Jungnang-gu is currently reviewing the card payment information of five passengers who boarded Mr. A’s taxi, which he operated as a personal taxi in another district after leaving his home at 4:10 p.m. on the 21st.
A district official stated, "Other cohabiting family members are under self-quarantine and fortunately tested negative," and added, "Disinfection and quarantine measures were conducted at the confirmed patient’s residence and personal taxi."
