[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] A firefighter at Bucheon Fire Station in Gyeonggi Province, where a COVID-19 case was previously reported, has tested positive again.

On the 23rd, Gimpo City announced that firefighter A (33), residing in Masandong and working at Bucheon Fire Station, and a female firefighter B in her 30s from Mapo Fire Station in Seoul, tested positive for COVID-19.

With their positive results, the total number of confirmed firefighter cases has increased to three.

On the previous day, firefighter C (36), residing in Janggi-dong, Gimpo City, and affiliated with Bucheon Fire Station, tested positive for COVID-19, and his wife D (39) also tested positive in a subsequent test. Fortunately, their 5-year-old son tested negative for COVID-19.

Bucheon Fire Station closed the Shin Sang 119 Safety Center, where firefighter C was assigned, on the 22nd. They conducted specimen tests on 91 staff members, and except for firefighter A, the remaining 90 tested negative.

It was confirmed that D is a nurse who recently worked at a private hospital in Yangchon-eup, Gimpo City, and disinfection is underway in the area around D’s workplace. They are also identifying whether there are medical staff and patients who had close contact with D.

In addition, epidemiological investigations are being conducted to trace the movements of not only C, whose infection route has not yet been confirmed, but also A and B.

A Gimpo City official stated, "Firefighters A and B were tested in Bucheon and Mapo, Seoul, respectively, and were not classified as confirmed cases within the jurisdiction. They were transferred to Suwon Hospital of Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center."
