62% of Twizy Buyers Decide to Purchase After Seeing Practicality for Short-Distance Driving

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] It has been revealed that 62% of Renault Twizy buyers purchased the Twizy due to its practicality suitable for short-distance driving. Additionally, many buyers chose the Twizy for promotional or marketing purposes, leveraging its unique design.

According to Renault Samsung Motors on the 21st, a survey conducted on 1,600 actual buyers of the ultra-compact electric vehicle Renault Twizy from January last year to March this year showed that 62% of respondents purchased the Twizy because of its practicality needed for short-distance driving.

The Twizy, with ultra-compact dimensions of 2338 mm in length, 1237 mm in width, and 1454 mm in height, can easily pass through narrow alleys and is convenient to park, allowing three vehicles to fit in a standard car parking space. Additionally, over 77% of respondents said they drive less than 30 km per day on average, confirming that the Twizy, which can travel 60 to 70 km on a single charge, is sufficient for urban commuting, business, delivery, and shopping purposes.

Moreover, the Twizy’s unique design was cited as an attractive purchase point. 47% of buyers responded that they purchased the Twizy because of its exterior design, and 14% said they use the Twizy’s distinctive appearance for promotional and marketing purposes.

The Renault Twizy attracted much attention even before its launch in Korea due to its unique concept and futuristic design. In particular, the Twizy’s use of scissor doors allows the doors to open and close freely in tight spaces, making it practical.

Buyers’ perception of the Twizy’s superior safety compared to two-wheelers was also confirmed. 27% of buyers said they purchased the Twizy because of its superior stability compared to two-wheelers, and 26% cited safety as a reason for recommending it to acquaintances.

The Twizy boasts higher safety than two-wheelers with its occupant protection cabin and is well equipped with safety features such as airbags, 4-point seat belts, and 4-wheel disc brakes. Additionally, the Twizy received favorable evaluations for driving performance and stability in driving assessments conducted with automotive journalists. The Twizy is equipped with a 13 kW motor, delivering a maximum output of 17.1 horsepower and a maximum torque of 5.8 kg.m.

Jusuyeon Joo, Executive Director of Renault Samsung LCV·EV Business, who conducted this satisfaction survey, said, "As the advantages of the Twizy have been confirmed once again through this satisfaction survey, we will continue to make various efforts so that more customers can directly experience the benefits of the Twizy."

Renault Samsung currently offers promotions where buyers can choose either up to 700,000 KRW worth of accessory purchase support or a 500,000 KRW cash discount when purchasing the Twizy. Additionally, an installment financing program is available where only interest is paid monthly, and the principal can be freely repaid at the desired time. The period is up to 24 months, with an interest rate of 1%.

Excluding purchase subsidies, the selling price of the Twizy is 13.3 million KRW for the Life trim and 14.3 million KRW for the Intense trim. With Renault Samsung’s cash discount and local government purchase subsidies, it is possible to purchase the vehicle for as low as 3.8 million KRW (up to 9 million KRW support in Cheongju City).
