Gangdong-gu Operates Online Direct Trade Market for Sister City Specialty Products


[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will operate the 'Sister City Specialty Products Online Direct Market' from May 20 to June 30 to help farms and businesses in sister cities struggling due to COVID-19.


This direct market features 25 excellent farms and businesses recommended by 12 cities and counties nationwide that have sister city relationships with Gangdong-gu, including ▲Hongcheon-gun in Gangwon-do ▲Eumseong-gun, Buyeo-gun, Cheongyang-gun, Nonsan-si in Chungcheong-do ▲Wando-gun, Jinan-gun, Yeonggwang-gun in Jeolla-do ▲Gyeongsan-si, Bonghwa-gun, Geochang-gun, Sangju-si in Gyeongsang-do.


Products for sale include Hongcheon Hanwoo beef, Wando abalone, Yeonggwang Chamgulbi (dried yellow corvina), as well as about 30 kinds of agricultural and marine specialty products and health foods produced in sister cities, such as black soybeans, mushrooms, myeongi (wild chive), gomchwi (wild vegetable), grains, greens, red pepper powder, and seasonings.


The market will be operated in a non-face-to-face transaction format to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including 'social distancing in daily life.' Customers can contact sellers through promotional flyers posted on the Gangdong-gu Office website and SNS or visit the sellers' websites to place orders and make payments.


Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "I hope this online market will provide vitality to the farms in sister cities struggling due to COVID-19 and offer our residents an opportunity to enjoy delicious local specialty products at affordable prices."
