KT Skylife Donates 25 Million KRW to Children's Speech Therapy Program

KT Skylife Donates 25 Million KRW to Children's Speech Therapy Program

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT Skylife has stepped up to support the rehabilitation of children with disabilities.

On the 19th, Skylife announced that it donated 25 million KRW for speech therapy programs aimed at rehabilitating children with disabilities at the ‘Purme Foundation Nexon Children's Rehabilitation Hospital’ located in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu.

The Purme Foundation Nexon Children's Rehabilitation Hospital is a specialized pediatric rehabilitation hospital established in 2016 through the combined efforts of citizens, corporations, and local governments to provide integrated rehabilitation treatment for children with disabilities. It offers various rehabilitation therapies including physical therapy, occupational therapy, cognitive therapy, and speech therapy, and is also equipped with community welfare facilities such as a sports center and a children's library. Since the hospital's establishment, Skylife has supported treatment costs for therapy rooms funded by the Skylife fund, dedicated to children who have difficulties in communication due to brain injuries, developmental delays, and other conditions.

This year, to practice social distancing and minimize gatherings amid COVID-19, the company decided not to conduct employee volunteer activities but to convey their support through donations. The 25 million KRW donated by Skylife will be used for group speech therapy programs aimed at improving reading and writing skills for children with dyslexia, as well as treatments to enhance oral motor functions and expressive language abilities.

Kim Cheol-soo, CEO of KT Skylife, said, “We hope Skylife’s support will contribute to the healthy growth of children who are the hope for the future,” and added, “We will continue to carry out support projects in cooperation with Purme Children's Rehabilitation Hospital to provide practical help to children.” Kim Yoon-tae, director of Purme Children's Rehabilitation Hospital, responded, “Thanks to Skylife, who has been with us since the hospital’s founding, many children and their families can receive treatment without worry,” and pledged, “We will do our best to help children communicate with the world through speech therapy.”
