Songpa-gu 'Neighbor Making Project' Provides Up to 1 Million Won Support for Resident Meetings

Songpa-gu 'Neighbor Making Project' Provides Up to 1 Million Won Support for Resident Meetings ‘Sonamu’ who experienced farming

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is publicly recruiting resident groups to participate in the '2020 Neighbor-Making Project' until June 3.

The Neighbor-Making Project is a program that supports discovering and nurturing new resident groups interested in various fields such as childcare, culture, environment, welfare, sharing and giving, and safety, enabling local residents to take the lead in creating a community.

New resident groups can engage in activities such as urban agriculture, cooperative childcare, and cultural and artistic creation.

Especially this year, resident groups will be recruited only from 17 neighborhoods within Songpa-gu. Pilot neighborhoods for the Residents' Autonomy Committee (Macheon 2-dong, Bangi 2-dong, Garak 1-dong, Wirye-dong, Jamsil Bon-dong, Jamsil 4-dong, etc., 6 in total) and neighborhoods promoting village planning (Macheon 1-dong, Songpa 1-dong, Seokchon-dong, Munjeong 1-dong, etc., 4 in total) are excluded.

A total of 17 million KRW will be invested. Each of the 17 resident groups per neighborhood will receive 1 million KRW in support.

New resident groups or organizations consisting of three or more people residing or having a living base (workplace, school) in the relevant neighborhood, and with no prior experience participating in the project, can apply for support.

The application period is from June 1 to June 3. Applicants can submit necessary documents such as project proposals and plans by visiting the neighborhood community centers or sending them via email to the person in charge at each center.

Songpa-gu plans to select resident groups to support through face-to-face evaluations of the applicants.

For more detailed information and related forms, please check the announcements on the official website or contact the Songpa-gu Office's Autonomous Administration Division (2147-2244) or the respective neighborhood community centers.

Songpa-gu also conducted the Neighbor-Making Project last year, supporting up to 1 million KRW in project expenses for a total of 46 projects.

Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, "The purpose of this project is for local residents to voluntarily identify and solve issues such as interests, stories, and concerns within the village," adding, "Through this, we aim to realize true resident autonomy and grassroots democracy."
