Gyeonggi Office of Education Accepts Applications from Schools Wishing to Combine Remote and In-Person Classes

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is accepting applications from middle schools that will operate both remote and in-person classes until the 22nd.

The methods for operating remote and in-person classes concurrently proposed by the Gyeonggi Office of Education include ▲ alternating attendance by grade on a weekly or daily basis ▲ cross-use of classrooms by grade ▲ splitting one class into two classrooms ▲ morning and afternoon sessions ▲ full-day remote classes by grade ▲ remote classes for free semester activities.

Schools wishing to participate may operate autonomously after gathering and reaching consensus within their communities.

The Gyeonggi Office of Education plans to analyze the class operation methods of the applying schools and prepare support measures accordingly.

Hwang Mi-dong, Director of the School Curriculum Division at the Gyeonggi Office of Education, stated, "In March, we designated and operated 367 remote education leading schools called 'Hamkke School' and 'Meonjeo School' to prepare for situations where face-to-face learning is not possible. The provincial office will transition to operating 'Hamkke School' and 'Meonjeo School Season II,' which concurrently operate remote and in-person classes, to explore possibilities as future schools."
