[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 17th that it will begin accepting applications for the second phase of the special local employment response support project for COVID-19 from the 18th.
This support project is a livelihood stabilization program jointly provided by Gyeongsangbuk-do and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, offering up to 500,000 KRW per person per month to vulnerable employment groups such as unpaid leave workers in small and medium-sized enterprises, special-type workers, and freelancers. It is also possible to receive this support concurrently with Gyeongsangbuk-do’s emergency disaster living expenses.
The eligibility criteria include special-type workers or freelancers such as academy and after-school instructors, and cultural and artistic workers who have been unable to provide labor for five or more days or whose income has decreased by 25% or more due to the spread of COVID-19 since February 23, when the national infectious disease crisis alert level was raised to “serious.”
Workers at workplaces with fewer than 100 employees who have implemented unpaid leave for five or more business days due to full or partial suspension of operations caused by COVID-19 are also included in the support target.
The target period for this second phase is April (April 1?30). Those who did not apply for the first phase can also apply retroactively for March (February 23?March 31).
Applications by visit or mail will be accepted from the 18th, and online applications through the provincial and city/county websites will begin on the 20th. The application deadline is the 29th.
Special-type workers, freelancers, and other workers in blind spots must submit special employment verification documents (service contracts, income certificates, etc.) and documents proving inability to work due to COVID-19 (pay slips, bank transaction statements, etc.). Unpaid leave workers must submit unpaid leave confirmation and business registration certificates.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo stated, “Support for vulnerable employment groups who suddenly face difficulties due to the spread of COVID-19 and have not received sufficient assistance must continue,” adding, “We will employ all means and methods to provide any possible help to stabilize the lives of residents struggling with the employment crisis.”
Meanwhile, for the first phase of the support project, which closed on the 29th of last month, a total of 24,898 people applied through online and in-person submissions, and document review and committee evaluation are currently underway.
