Jeongeup-si, Final Selection for Tractor Support Project for Young Returning Farmers

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk announced on the 15th that it has been finally selected for the ‘Young Returning Farmer Tractor Support Project,’ which provides tractors free of charge to young farmers striving to nurture their dreams amid difficult circumstances.

The ‘Young Returning Farmer Tractor Support Project’ is a public contest project in which Dongyang Mulsan Enterprise Co., Ltd., a specialized agricultural machinery manufacturer, provides 10 tractors free of charge to young returning farmers nationwide.

This project was prepared to revitalize rural areas stagnated by COVID-19 and to promote stable agricultural management and rural settlement for young farmers.

As a result of the contest screening, young farmer Kim Min-jin (28, female) was finally selected as the Jeonbuk Province support recipient.

Through a meeting with Mayor Yoo Jin-seop, Kim Min-jin and her husband said, “We cannot hide our joy at being selected for this project, which many young returning farmers nationwide applied for,” and “We deeply appreciate Jeongeup City’s special interest.”

She added, “To share this joy with the citizens of Jeongeup, we plan to use the donated tractor to distribute agricultural products that we directly cultivate to neighbors in need.”

Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, “I am glad that young farmers like Kim Min-jin are returning to farming, making the future of Jeongeup’s rural areas brighter,” and “I ask you to continue to be a young farmer who actively leads the revitalization of Jeongeup’s rural areas.”

Meanwhile, Kim Min-jin returned to farming in 2019, moving from Yeosu, Jeonnam to Soseong-myeon, Jeongeup City, following her husband.

Currently, she actively operates and manages various SNS accounts (Kakao Channel - 20,000 subscribers, Blog - 6,000 to 10,000 daily subscribers, Instagram, Facebook, Band, Cafe, etc.), communicating with many consumers and farmers as a passionate young farmer.

This summer, she is preparing to harvest aronia berries, summer shoots, and pawpaw fruit, and plans to promote Jeongeup, the No. 1 returning farming area, by filming the NBS (Korea Agricultural Broadcasting) program ‘I am a Farmer’ over two nights and three days.
