[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Miryang City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 15th that it held the 'May On-site Executive Meeting' at the National Miryang Meteorological Science Museum and Miryang Arirang Space Observatory, which are set to open on the 21st.

The meeting was held with Mayor Park Il-ho and about 30 executive officials attending, following the delayed openings of the Miryang Arirang Space Observatory and the National Miryang Meteorological Science Museum due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both facilities are scheduled to open on the 21st.

The Miryang Arirang Space Observatory was established with a project budget of 19.6 billion KRW and is the first in Korea to feature a specialized scientific experience space focused on the theme of 'exoplanets and extraterrestrial life.' The building has four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 6,243㎡, and includes an observation room, planetarium, exhibition and experience rooms, education rooms, as well as top-tier astronomical observation equipment in Korea.

Additionally, the National Miryang Meteorological Science Museum, constructed at the same location and opening simultaneously, was developed by the Busan Regional Meteorological Administration with a project budget of 11 billion KRW. It consists of one basement floor and two above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 2,680㎡.

The museum features exhibition and experience rooms and education rooms where visitors can enjoy and learn about climate and weather, including job experience education for meteorological forecasters, a giant tornado simulator, and Coriolis force experience.

Mayor Park Il-ho of Miryang said, "The Miryang Arirang Space Observatory and the National Miryang Meteorological Science Museum, opening on the 21st, are the only facilities in Korea where you can experience space exploration and weather observation in one place, and we expect them to serve as a catalyst for revitalizing tourism in Miryang." He added, "We hope that various programs and cultural tourism content will continue to be developed so that family visitors can create fantastic experiences and memories unique to Miryang."
