On that day, Prime Minister Chung visited the memorial altar set up at the security post of an apartment in Ui-dong, Gangbuk-gu in the afternoon. On the social networking service (SNS) Facebook, he said, "My heart aches and I am devastated," and added, "It is the responsibility of all of us."
Prime Minister Chung emphasized, "He was someone who lived by putting others first, but ironically became a victim of indiscriminate violence directed at others," and said, "Security workers are someone's mother, father, and our family."
He promised, "We will definitely create a security work environment where safety is guaranteed," and added, "We will carefully examine and supplement any deficiencies in related laws and systems."
After paying his respects, Prime Minister Chung attached a post-it note to the memorial altar with the phrase, "We will surely achieve a society that respects people."
The late Choi Hee-seok, who worked as a security guard at an apartment in Ui-dong, Gangbuk-gu, had a dispute with a resident over parking on the 21st of last month, and after continuously being verbally abused and assaulted by the resident, he took his own life on the 10th.
