[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] A 40-year-old Asian Games bronze medalist bodybuilder who sexually assaulted a woman at the gym he operated was sentenced to the same prison term as the original trial.

The Daegu District Court 3-3 Criminal Division (Chief Judge Sung Kyung-hee) dismissed the appeal of A (48), who was tried on charges of sexual assault (forcible molestation) against a woman, and announced on the 13th that he was sentenced to six months in prison, the same as the original trial.

The court stated, "The defendant claims that he did not commit the assault, but considering the victim's testimony and other evidence, the crime is recognized, and the sentence imposed in the first trial is appropriate."

A was previously tried on charges of sexually assaulting a woman at the gym he operated in 2018.

Accordingly, A was sentenced to six months in prison in the first trial earlier this year.

A, who won a bronze medal at the Asian Games, was permanently banned after being caught in a drug test ahead of the 2015 National Sports Festival.
