[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] The Ministry of Economy and Finance has decided to actively participate in donating emergency disaster relief funds to the Employment Insurance Fund based on the 'voluntary will' of officials at the manager level and above.
On the 13th, the Ministry of Economy and Finance issued a notice under the name of the Director of the Planning and Coordination Office regarding the donation of emergency disaster relief funds. It announced that after gathering opinions from managerial staff through daily situation check meetings attended by each director and major bureau chiefs, as well as meetings of general managers of each office and bureau, this decision was made.
The Ministry stated, "We hope that this small donation will help alleviate the difficulties faced by vulnerable employment groups suffering from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) to some extent," and added, "We hope that such voluntary donations will spread widely, serving as an opportunity to further strengthen and deepen solidarity, cohesion, and inclusiveness in our society."
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Hong Nam-ki expressed his intention to donate by not applying for the emergency disaster relief funds through Facebook on the 12th. Among the 1,004 employees at the Ministry headquarters, 170 are officials at the manager level and above.
