Accordingly, the Gwangju-Gimpo route will operate a total of 4 round-trip flights, including the existing 2 daily round-trip flights by Asiana Airlines, and the Gwangju-Jeju route will operate 16 round-trip flights, totaling 20 round-trip flights (40 flights in total).
Regarding Gwangju Airport, after flight reductions to a total of 16 flights due to the spread of COVID-19 in March and April, normal operations resumed on the 30th of last month during the holiday period.
According to Jin Air, following the Gwangju-Jeju route that has been operated so far, a 189-seat B737-800 aircraft will be deployed on the Gwangju-Gimpo route starting from this day.
The flight times are ▲ Gwangju departure at 1:30 PM (arrival at Gimpo 2:25 PM), departure at 7:30 PM (arrival at Gimpo 8:20 PM) ▲ Gimpo departure at 7:05 AM (arrival at Gwangju 8:00 AM), departure at 5:35 PM (arrival at Gwangju 6:25 PM).
To commemorate the new service on the Gimpo route, Jin Air is conducting a special promotion through its official website, mobile web, and app until the 31st, offering benefits such as discounted fares by route and time slot, and free checked baggage service.
Park Gap-su, Director of the City Transportation Policy Division, said, “With the normalization and new service of domestic routes at Gwangju Airport, it is expected that the accessibility and convenience for local residents will improve, and user satisfaction will increase. We hope that the airline industry, which has faced difficulties due to COVID-19, will return to normal as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, five airlines including Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, T'way Air, Jeju Air, and Jin Air operate on the Gwangju Airport Jeju and Gimpo routes.
