49 Jeonnam Educators Who Visited Itaewon All Test Negative Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] All 49 native speakers and staff members from Jeonnam who visited the Itaewon area in Seoul, where a recent COVID-19 cluster infection occurred, tested negative.

According to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education on the 13th, in relation to the Itaewon COVID-19 impact, to block any possible infection factors, they identified and tested 34 native speakers and 15 staff members from Jeonnam who visited the Itaewon area from the 29th of last month to the 6th of this month, and all tested negative.

However, the Office of Education plans to maintain the remote work measures for them until the 15th.

Additionally, immediate disinfection was carried out at the schools to which these staff members belong, and staff members who had close contact with them were also instructed to work from home under the school principal's discretion.

A representative from the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education stated, “Most of the native speakers and staff who visited the area were found to have only visited cafes, restaurants, or taken walks,” and added, “We plan to continue promoting strict adherence to social distancing in daily life among all school members to prevent further spread of COVID-19.”
