Lee Hee-young, co-head of Gyeonggi Province's COVID-19 Emergency Response Team (Professor at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital Public Medical Project Group), held a regular briefing at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government briefing room in Suwon on the 13th and emphasized, "Rapid and voluntary testing is essential to prevent the spread of the cluster infection that started in Itaewon."
He added, "Residents who visited Itaewon in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and Nonhyeon-dong in Gangnam-gu from April 24 to May 6 should promptly undergo free diagnostic testing regardless of symptoms after consulting their local health center for their own safety as well as the safety of their families and community."
As of midnight on the 13th, the total number of confirmed cases linked to Itaewon clubs in the province stands at 23. Among them, 19 people in their 20s and 30s account for 83% of the total. Additionally, 13 of them are office workers, making up 56%.
