[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun College of Science and Technology (President Jo Soon-gye) announced on the 13th that it held a memorial event by visiting the National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery and Mangwol-dong National Democratic Martyrs' Cemetery ahead of the 40th anniversary of the May 18 Memorial Day.
Fifteen officials, including President Jo Soon-gye, faculty and staff, and the student council, attended the event to commemorate the democratic martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the May Democratic Uprising.
President Jo wrote in the guestbook, "We will deeply cherish the loyal spirits of the May spirits," and spent time with the group offering flowers, incense, saluting, and observing a moment of silence.
President Jo said, "This year marks the meaningful 40th anniversary of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement," adding, "I hope we remember the democratic martyrs of May 18 and continue the noble spirit of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement."
