Recruiting Around 25 New Childcare Helpers by the 22nd of This Month for Online Classes and Self-Learning Support Due to Online School Opening
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) is expanding the operation of the ‘Hope Gangbuk Childcare Service’ to support learning amid online school openings.
The existing childcare project mainly provided safe care for children under 12 years old, especially in dual-income families where childcare gaps were a concern.
The newly expanded childcare service now includes support to help elementary school students independently manage remote learning due to online classes caused by COVID-19.
As a measure for this, the district has initiated customized learning support considering the characteristics of children. Childcare providers focus on creating a study-friendly atmosphere at home and assisting with assignments, acting as helpers for students to engage in online learning independently. They also continuously monitor each child’s learning status to minimize educational gaps caused by online school openings.
Applicants for the service can inquire at the Gangbuk-gu Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center. The usage fee is temporarily reduced and varies from 989 to 9,890 KRW per hour depending on income type.
Additionally, to prepare for visiting childcare services aligned with phased school attendance, the district is recruiting 25 new childcare providers by the 22nd of this month. Applicants can apply regardless of age by submitting application documents via email (idol@gbfamily.net). Since the documents are diverse, applicants should carefully check the news section on the Gangbuk-gu Office website.
By early next month, the district plans to select final candidates through document screening, aptitude tests, and interviews. New childcare providers will assist children with school commuting and preparation until parents arrive. They must complete 100 hours of training, including field practice, to qualify as childcare providers.
Mayor Park Gyeom-su of Gangbuk-gu said, “Childcare is a service that can be used when urgent care for children is needed, reducing parental childcare burdens and complementing the community’s care functions. We will continue to prepare various support measures to create a child-friendly environment.”
