[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Nexon's mobile racing game 'KartRider Rush Plus' has surpassed 4 million pre-registrations. Initially, Nexon expected to reach 3 million pre-registrations, but in less than a month, it far exceeded the target. Attention is focused on whether the racing genre can cause a paradigm shift in the domestic mobile game market, which has been dominated by massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs).

On the 8th, a Nexon official stated, "We started global pre-registrations on the 16th of last month and surpassed 4 million pre-registrations in about 20 days." Nexon's other mobile game, 'Traha,' also recorded 4 million pre-registrations but took two months to do so. Compared to that, KartRider Rush Plus is receiving very high interest, according to Nexon. On the day pre-registrations began, KartRider Rush Plus ranked among Naver's trending search terms and recorded 1 million pre-registrations in just one day, 2 million by the fourth day, and 3 million within a week. Pre-registrations included game users not only from Korea but also from Asia, North America, Europe, and South America.

KartRider Rush Plus is the mobile version of KartRider, which was released in 2004 and has been steadily loved for 16 years. It has a strong fan base with 28 million domestic members and 380 million global members. Compared to the original, the mobile version features more sophisticated karts, and players can customize their karts with paint jobs and stickers. While faithfully reproducing key content from the original such as tracks, game modes, and driving techniques, new mobile-exclusive modes like ranked matches and relay races have been added. Nexon plans to release KartRider Rush Plus soon.
