[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Kim Tae-nyeon, the newly appointed floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, is a four-term lawmaker (Seongnam-si Sujeong-gu, Gyeonggi) who previously served as the special advisor to candidate Moon Jae-in's presidential campaign and as the chairman of the Democratic Party's Policy Committee.

Born in 1965 in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, Floor Leader Kim graduated from Kyung Hee University with a degree in Public Administration. He served as co-chairman of the Democratic National Unification Seongnam Alliance and co-executive director of the Seongnam City Height Restriction Resolution Committee. In the 2002 presidential election, he was the co-head of the Seongnam branch of Roh Moo-hyun's campaign headquarters.

After being elected in the 17th general election in 2004, he lost in the 18th general election but was consecutively elected in the 19th and 20th general elections.

He has held positions such as deputy floor leader of the Uri Party, secretary of the National Assembly's Special Committee on Political Reform, chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Party of the New Politics Alliance for Democracy, secretary of the National Assembly's Special Committee on Political Reform, and co-chairman of the National Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation.

In the 20th National Assembly, he served as chairman of the Democratic Party's Policy Committee and as vice chairman of the State Affairs Planning Advisory Committee, which was equivalent to the transition committee for the Moon Jae-in administration.
