Dongjak-gu Operates Integrated Filing Center for Comprehensive Income Tax and Local Income Tax

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is operating an integrated tax filing center until June 1st in observance of the comprehensive income tax and individual local income tax filing month in May.

Until last year, individual local income tax was filed together through the tax office, but starting this year, individual local income tax must be filed directly with the local government.

Accordingly, to minimize taxpayer confusion and inconvenience and to provide convenience in the filing process, the district office has established and is operating a one-stop filing center in the basement small conference room of the district office.

The operating hours are weekdays from 9 AM to 6 PM.

Taxpayers can choose to visit either the Dongjak Tax Office or the district office integrated filing center to file both national and local taxes simultaneously. Electronic filing is also available through Hometax and Wetax.

At the integrated filing center, visitors’ income and basic information are checked, and filing is processed at each filing window according to the queue number. Earned income tax credit recipients can apply at a separately prepared filing window.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, electronic filing is recommended whenever possible, and visitors to the filing center are required to wear masks.

The district has prepared a separate waiting area to prevent congestion at the filing center, installed partitions between taxpayers and staff, and conducts regular disinfection to prevent COVID-19 infection in advance.

Additionally, four filing center assistants have been hired to provide smooth customer guidance and support filing operations during the operation period.

Along with this, according to the COVID-19 damage support policy, the filing and payment period for comprehensive income tax and individual local income tax has been extended from the original June 1 deadline by one month for special disaster areas and by three months for directly affected individuals.

The payment deadline has been extended to August 31 for all taxpayers.

Lee Yong-chil, Director of the Local Income Tax Division, said, “We will do our best to minimize taxpayer confusion and provide convenient tax administration services through the operation of the comprehensive income tax and individual local income tax integrated filing center.”
