[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the morning of the 4th, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha held a phone call at the request of Dinesh Gunawardena, Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister, and exchanged opinions on cooperation measures related to the response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) between the two countries.


Minister Kang explained that as a result of the Korean government and its people working together under principles such as transparency, the COVID-19 situation in Korea has recently shown signs of stabilization.


In response, Minister Gunawardena highly praised Korea for successfully conducting the general election under the COVID-19 situation based on excellent quarantine capabilities and expressed hope for cooperation and support between the two countries in responding to COVID-19.


Furthermore, Minister Kang emphasized the need to strive to maintain essential economic and human exchanges between the two countries even in difficult circumstances, and Minister Gunawardena agreed and expressed hope to revitalize economic cooperation between the two countries.


An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained, "Both ministers recognized the importance of cooperation and experience sharing between the two countries during the COVID-19 response process, and agreed to maintain close communication and exchanges between the diplomatic authorities."
