Jongno-gu Announces Recruitment for Participants in the 6th National Yun Dong-ju Creative Music Festival and the 7th National Youth Yun Dong-ju Poetry and Painting Contest
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) is recruiting participants for the '6th National Yun Dong-ju Creative Music Festival' and the '7th National Youth Yun Dong-ju Poetry and Painting Contest,' organized to honor the literary philosophy and patriotic spirit of poet Yun Dong-ju.
The Yun Dong-ju Creative Music Festival is an event where participants present original compositions using Yun Dong-ju’s poems as lyrics.
Anyone who loves poet Yun Dong-ju, poetry, and music can participate regardless of age, education, or nationality.
The application period is until May 24, and applicants can download the application form and other required documents from the Jongno Cultural Foundation website, fill them out, and submit them along with an audio file (MP3) or performance video (MP4) via email (yoondongju@jfac.or.kr).
A panel of experts will evaluate entries based on criteria such as ▲work utilization and communication power ▲poetic musicality and expressiveness ▲performance and ensemble. After preliminary rounds at the end of June, the finals will be held on July 11. Four teams will be awarded grand prize, gold, silver, and bronze prizes, each receiving prize money and trophies.
The Yun Dong-ju Poetry and Painting Contest invites youth nationwide to submit poetry and painting works themed on Yun Dong-ju’s poems. Works of 4-page size including both poem and illustration should be submitted by May 27 either in person or by mail to the Cultural Project Team of Jongno Cultural Foundation (3 Saemunan-ro 3-gil, Jongno-gu, 6th floor, Naeil Newspaper building).
Entries will be evaluated on ▲subject and technique ▲composition and individuality ▲creativity ▲harmony between poem and painting. Results will be announced in June, and the award ceremony will be held on July 11. Awards will be given separately for middle and high school divisions, and winners will have opportunities for exhibition and publication of their works.

District Mayor Kim Young-jong said, “Jongno has many meaningful places related to Yun Dong-ju, such as the Yun Dong-ju Literature Museum (119 Changui-mun-ro, Jongno-gu) and the Poet’s Hill,” adding, “We hope many people will show interest and participate in the annual creative music festival and poetry and painting contest held to understand and honor the life and literature of Yun Dong-ju.”
