'My Way' Hye Eun-i, After Divorce from Kim Dong-hyun: "A Truly Kind Person... We Parted Like Friends"

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] Hye-eun-i opened up about her feelings after divorcing Kim Dong-hyun.

On the night of the 29th, TV Chosun's 'Life Documentary My Way' aired, revealing the life and music story of singer Hye-eun-i.

Kim Dong-hyun and Hye-eun-i got married in 1990. After going through difficult times due to Kim Dong-hyun's business failure and various legal battles, the couple eventually divorced in July last year.

In the broadcast, Hye-eun-i said that people around her still ask about Kim Dong-hyun's well-being, and she replies, "He is doing well. Because he is doing well."

She then recalled, "Actually, Kim Dong-hyun, my husband, said last year, 'I'm really sorry,' and 'I hope you live comfortably.'"

Hye-eun-i shared, "I wondered what kind of heart that person had when he said those words," and continued, "'Now live comfortably once. The kids have all grown up, and I talked to them so they could understand, saying, 'Dad caused Mom a lot of hardship... I'm sorry, so I want Mom to live comfortably and freely now. Please understand your Mom and Dad,'" she recounted the situation at the time.

After the divorce, Hye-eun-i confessed, "I was very exhausted." She said, "(My life) is miserable. This is when you use the word 'miserable.' I felt a sense of self-loathing. To speak more deeply, I felt like I had become a loser," she revealed her feelings.

She added, "It has been 10 months since the divorce," and said, "We really parted like friends." She mentioned that if it weren't for the power of prayer, she might have made an extreme choice. She continued, "I thought, 'I must not hurt our children,'" she confessed.

Reflecting on her past marriage, she said, "Whenever there were difficult times, many people around me kept saying, 'Oh, just stop living. Stop it,' but I thought, 'Maybe it was because I wasn't good enough that person could have gone wrong,'" and recalled, "Because what is support? Even when people said, 'Oh, your wife is terrible,' if I had supported well, would my husband have been so troubled?"

Regarding Kim Dong-hyun, she said, "He is such a kind person. If he were an evil person, he wouldn't have done that," and added, "He will live well. He will do well."

Hye-eun-i resumed her activities by releasing a new song 'Geurae' (Yes) earlier this month. She plans to hold a concert in May. About her recent status, Hye-eun-i said, "Freedom, I feel very free these days. What is this?" and added, "Just like flowers flying in the wind, entrusting my body to the wind, I feel that I now have the right to enjoy life."
