[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Nanos, a subsidiary of Ssangbangwool Group, announced on the 27th that its sales in the first quarter of this year reached 19.54 billion KRW, an increase of 161.4% compared to the same period last year. Compared to the previous quarter, sales increased by 25.6%.
Operating profit turned positive at 1.64 billion KRW, marking a 93% increase from the previous quarter.
The performance growth was attributed to the strong demand in the camera module-related parts sector, the company’s core business, despite the COVID-19 issues in the first quarter of this year.
Nanos, which achieved record-high performance, also recorded sales of 7.84 billion KRW in February, marking the highest performance in 39 months.
Optical filters play a key role in digital imaging devices such as mobile phone cameras, digital cameras, security cameras, and camcorders by transmitting visible light bands and blocking near-infrared bands, thereby producing natural images similar to what the human eye sees.
A Nanos official explained, "Efforts are underway to improve efficiency, including cost reduction, through the unification of Nanos’s optical filter production facilities."
Meanwhile, Ssangbangwool Group includes Ssangbangwool, Namyoung Vivian, Kwanglim, Nanos, Pobis TNC, and Mirae Industry.
