Former lawmaker Kim Hoon received a dismissal of charges from the prosecution on February 20 and held a press conference on February 27.

Former councilor Kim Hoon stated in a press release on the 20th that Councilor Kim Sumi appealed again against the sexual harassment charges that were dismissed, but the dismissal decision was made on the 9th.
He said, “This dismissal decision by the prosecution, a judicial institution, reflects a fair judgment on the case,” and emphasized, “I pay respect to the prosecution’s just decision, and social justice is alive.”
Former councilor Kim Hoon also expressed renewed disappointment toward social organizations in the Mokpo area.
Kim said, “I was cleared of the sexual harassment charges and earnestly asked for the witch hunt to stop,” adding, “During the appeal process, holding a one-person protest and again branding me as a shameless criminal is the ‘third personality assassination’ following the second.”
He continued, “My innocence and the truth about this case have been revealed,” and expressed, “I once again thank the citizens of Mokpo and supporters who silently cheered me on in their hearts.”
He added, “The truth is still being distorted due to the witch hunt by some civic groups,” and said, “This has become an opportunity to show citizens that truth overcomes lies and justice is alive.”
Meanwhile, according to the prosecution’s non-indictment decision delivered to former councilor Kim Hoon on the 21st of last month, forced molestation and some insults were stated as having ‘no charges’ due to insufficient evidence, and some insults were noted as ‘not subject to prosecution.’
According to the decision document from the Gwangju High Prosecutors’ Office on the 9th, the appeal against Councilor Kim Sumi’s forced molestation and insult charges was dismissed, stating that after a detailed review of the case records, the appeal was groundless and was decided as ordered.
