Gwangju Nam-gu Operates 'Free Legal Consultation Office' Every Monday

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 20th that starting next month, it will operate a free legal consultation office every Monday to provide legal services for various disputes arising in daily life to residents and business operators.

Five lawyers from the law firm S&Partners, which has signed an agreement to support legal services through legal advice and talent donation for Nam-gu Office administration, will participate on a rotating basis in the legal consultations.

These lawyers will be stationed in the video conference room on the 7th floor of the district office every Monday from 3 PM to 5 PM to provide free legal consultations.

Some of the lawyers also hold qualifications such as certified public accountant and civil engineering technician, enabling them to provide specialized legal support in those fields.

To receive legal consultation, one must visit the planning office on the 7th floor of Nam-gu Office or make a prior reservation by phone to use the service.

The free consultation time per person is about 20 minutes, and consultation services will be provided to six legal clients every Monday.

The areas eligible for free legal consultation include civil lawsuits such as real estate, compensation for damages, and lease disputes; administrative lawsuits involving administrative dispositions and taxation; and family lawsuits such as marriage, divorce, and inheritance.

Consultations are also available for intellectual industry fields such as patents and technology transactions, as well as livelihood infringement areas including loan business, credit cards, multi-level marketing, employment fraud, e-commerce, and human rights violations.

A Nam-gu official stated, “Through free consultations on the rapidly increasing administrative litigation and various legal issues arising in daily life, we will protect the legal rights of residents and do our best to operate the free legal consultation office so that residents’ convenience can be enhanced through proactive administration by the legal affairs staff within the district office.”
