U.S. President Donald Trump revealed on the 18th (local time) that he received a "nice note" from North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un.
According to major foreign media, President Trump mentioned North Korea while responding to a question about messages to hostile countries such as North Korea, Russia, China, and Iran during a COVID-19 task force briefing held at the White House that day, saying, "I recently received a nice note from him."
However, President Trump did not provide specific details or further information.
He also said, "We think we are doing well right now."
Earlier, on the 22nd of last month, regarding the COVID-19 response, President Trump had confirmed in response to a reporter's question asking, "Did you send a letter seeking cooperation related to the coronavirus to North Korea's Kim Jong-un (State Affairs Commission Chairman)?" by saying, "Yes. To many countries..." indicating that he had sent letters.
Meanwhile, Kim Yo-jong, First Deputy Director of the Workers' Party and sister of Chairman Kim, stated in a dawn statement on the 22nd of last month that President Trump sent a letter to Chairman Kim explaining his vision for advancing North Korea-U.S. relations and expressing willingness to cooperate in COVID-19 prevention efforts.
