[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] In the 21st National Assembly election for the Jeonnam Naju·Hwasun constituency, Shin Jeong-hoon, the candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, was elected.
Shin Jeong-hoon stated, "The Candlelight Revolution, which wished for the eradication of deep-rooted evils, democracy, and the peaceful settlement of the Korean Peninsula, has triumphed," adding, "The pro-Japanese, traitorous, dictatorial, and anti-Sewol Ferry factions symbolized by Park Chung-hee and Park Geun-hye have received the stern judgment of the people."
He said, "However, I am afraid of the overwhelming victory in the general election. The weight and responsibility of the historical mandate and the people's judgment are immense, more than the joy of victory."
He continued, "I will not be arrogant. I will repeatedly reflect on the fierce public sentiment, the people's wishes, and the historical mandate, and will advance again and again in 'working politics and uninterrupted reform,'" promising, "I will change politics and protect the people."
Regarding his activities in the National Assembly, he said, "Economic reform will begin with protecting small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners collapsing due to COVID-19, resolving polarization through the construction of digital SOC, and strengthening the global competitiveness of quarantine, bio, and ICT industries by utilizing the enhanced national image," adding, "Welfare reform will start with providing disaster relief funds to all citizens and protecting socially vulnerable groups hit hard by the economic crisis, and social reform will begin with the disclosure of personal information of 260,000 members of the nth room and the punishment of all involved."
He also emphasized, "The most critical tasks are reforming the media and prosecution," stating, "Media reform will start with the cancellation of Channel A's license and the introduction of punitive damages for fake news, and prosecution reform will begin with the smooth launch of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, investigations into the family of Yoon Seok-ryul at the level of Cho Kuk's family, and the investigation of collusion between Channel A and Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon."
Regarding regional pledges, he said, "I will definitely complete the opening of the Naju Korea Electric Power Corporation University and the biopharmaceutical industry belt. I will secure the synchrotron accelerator center and develop Naju into a hub city for the global new energy industry," adding, "Hwasun will create a biopharmaceutical industry cluster based on the vaccine industry special zone and become the hub of Korea's biomedical sector."
Shin Jeong-hoon promised once again, "Along with national reform tasks, I will pursue regional development tasks without any wavering. I will be a politician who wipes away the tears of Naju and Hwasun as promised. I will definitely keep my promises."
