[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The National Election Commission announced on the 15th at 8 a.m. that the voter turnout for the 21st general election was 5.1%.
As of 6 a.m. on the same day, 2,256,596 out of a total of 43,994,247 eligible voters participated in the voting.
This figure does not include early voting conducted on the 10th and 11th (turnout rate 26.69%). Early voting, along with absentee (mail-in) voting, shipboard voting, and overseas voting, will be included in the turnout rate released from 1 p.m.
This turnout rate is 1 percentage point higher than the 4.10% recorded at the same time during the 20th general election in 2016.
