[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), offline pet expos have been canceled or postponed, leading to a surge in demand for pet supplies online. E-commerce companies are also continuously holding special exhibitions that gather related products in one place.
Coupang is running a "Pet Fair" until the 19th, featuring popular products from famous domestic and international pet brands all in one place. This Pet Fair showcases over 52,000 pet supplies from 42 brands. A separate "Category Section" has been set up for dog and cat-related products that customers frequently seek. Customers can easily find necessary items by category, such as food, snacks, clothing & fashion, cat towers & scratchers.
Various discount benefits are also offered. In the Brand Section, representative products from well-known domestic and international pet brands are discounted by up to 65%. Additional discount coupons of up to 20,000 KRW are issued depending on the purchase amount. Yoon Hye-young, Vice President of Retail at Coupang, said, "As offline pet events are being postponed or canceled recently, we prepared the Pet Fair for customers who want to purchase pet supplies online. We have organized it well so that popular pet brand products can be found at affordable prices."
Earlier, Interpark also held the "1st Interpark Pet Online Expo" earlier this month. It was the first time held at Interpark's pet specialty mall "Interpark Pet," allowing pet owners who find it difficult to attend offline expos due to COVID-19 to browse various items such as food, snacks, supplements, clothing, accessories, and supplies all at once from home.
Thirty-two major brands including Wellness, NOW, Inaba, Welz, and Natural Core participated, and a "Warehouse Clearance" corner offering discounts of up to 70% was also set up. It was an opportunity to purchase premium brands like Jiwipick, Pillu, and Lily's Kitchen, which usually do not hold discount events, at affordable prices.
