[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The United Future Party demanded an apology from President Moon Jae-in regarding his wife Kim Jung-sook receiving swimming lessons from a female security officer at the Blue House, calling it a "waste of taxpayers' money."

Kim Ye-ryeong, spokesperson for the United Future Party's election committee, pointed out on the 10th in a statement, "Is it a deep-rooted evil that Kim Jung-sook received swimming lessons from a security office staff member? Or is it not?"

Regarding media reports that a Blue House security officer, Mr. A, provided swimming lessons to Mrs. Kim once or twice a week at the Blue House swimming pool in 2018, Kim said, "This period was when our economy began to face serious difficulties due to the Blue House's implementation of the minimum wage system and the 52-hour workweek under 'income-led growth.'" He criticized, "During such a critical time, the Blue House used public officials paid by taxpayers for Mrs. Kim's personal swimming lessons."

He questioned, "Where does this sense of privilege and confidence from the Blue House come from?" and pointed out, "Legal experts note that instructing national public officials to perform duties outside their official responsibilities could be considered abuse of authority or other illegal acts."

Kim demanded, "The head of the security office, Joo Young-hoon, must be held accountable," and added, "President Moon Jae-in must apologize for wasting the hard-earned taxpayers' money."
