Early Voting Rate at 10 AM on First Day 2.52%... Highest Ever for Same Time Slot

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] The National Election Commission announced that as of 10 a.m. on the first day of early voting for the 21st general election on the 10th, the voter turnout rate was recorded at 2.52%. This is the highest early voting rate in history.

According to the National Election Commission, as of 10 a.m., out of 43,994,247 eligible voters nationwide, 1,110,110 have voted. The region with the highest early voting rate is Jeonnam, recording 4.31%. The region with the lowest turnout rate is Daegu, at 1.91%.

The early voting, conducted over two days starting today, is taking place at 3,508 polling stations nationwide, of which 8 are special early voting stations set up inside residential treatment centers where COVID-19 patients are receiving treatment. Early voting is possible anywhere nationwide from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., regardless of the voter's registered address, as long as they present an ID such as a resident registration card, driver's license, or a photo-attached ID issued by a government or public institution. Voters disinfect their hands with sanitizer provided at the polling stations, wear disposable plastic gloves, and then cast their votes.
