[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Lee Hae-chan, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, cast his early vote at an early voting station in Jung-gu, Daejeon. He also urged, "I hope many people participate in early voting as a measure of social distancing."

On the morning of the 10th, Lee voted with his wife Kim Jeong-ok at the early voting station in Eunhaeng Seonhwa-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon. When asked "why you voted here," he replied, "I live in Sejong City, but to encourage voting, I came to the nearest city to vote."

He said, "After coming here, it is much less crowded than on the actual voting day," adding, "The National Election Commission has made various preparations for COVID-19, so it was very comfortable to vote." He continued, "Today and tomorrow are early voting days, and I hope many people participate in early voting as a measure of social distancing."

Lee said, "This general election is on a different level from the 20th National Assembly election," and added, "It is a meaningful vote as young people aged 19 and over, who were granted voting rights the latest among OECD countries, are voting for the first time."

Meanwhile, candidates Hwang Un-ha running in this district, Woo Hee-jong, co-leader of the Together Citizens' Party, and Lee Jong-geol, standing co-chairman of the Citizens' Party election committee, joined Lee in early voting that day.
