Jeongdong Theater May 1 Brunch Concert 'Yang Junmo's Opera Date' First Performance
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Musical actor Yang Jun-mo (40) and baritone Yang Jun-mo (46) will sing the number "Stars" from the musical Les Mis?rables together at Jeongdong Theater on the 1st of next month.
This will be the first stage of Jeongdong Theater's brunch concert series, "Yang Jun-mo's Opera Date." "Yang Jun-mo's Opera Date" is a talk concert with commentary where musical actor Yang Jun-mo invites a new guest each time to share conversations and performances. The performance, held at 11 a.m., offers an affordable price of 10,000 KRW for all seats, allowing audiences to enjoy opera comfortably.
Jeongdong Theater plans to present "Yang Jun-mo's Opera Date" four times this year. For the first stage on May 1st, host actor Yang Jun-mo invited baritone Yang Jun-mo. Actor Yang Jun-mo also majored in vocal music. The two performed together in the opera Der Ring des Nibelungen ? Das Rheingold at the Seoul Arts Center in 2018.
The first performance on May 1st, themed "Classics Encountered in Movies," will feature actor Yang Jun-mo, baritone Yang Jun-mo, and pianist Bang Eun-hyun together.
Baritone Yang Jun-mo graduated top of his class from Yonsei University's vocal music department and completed the highest performance course at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts in Germany. He has won numerous awards, including 1st place and Audience Award in the vocal opera category at the ARD International Competition in Munich (2006), 1st place at the debut competition hosted by SWR Broadcasting (2007), and 2nd place, Audience Award, and Best Wagner Singer Award at the Nuremberg Meistersinger Competition (2016). He is currently active as a lead opera singer on Europe's top stages, mainly in Germany.
Pianist Bang Eun-hyun completed the highest performance course at the Dresden University of Music in Germany. She has actively performed in Germany and Austria, including working as a music coach at the Bremerhaven Theater in Germany from 2016 to 2018.
This performance will be filled with familiar opera and classical music pieces featured in various films, along with memorable scenes. Attendees can enjoy Mahler's song "Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen (I am lost to the world)" from the film Im Schatten der Engel ("The Song of the Masked"), and Ennio Morricone's "Cinema Paradiso," the theme from the film Cinema Paradiso. Actor Yang Jun-mo will perform the famous song "The Music of the Night" from the musical The Phantom of the Opera.
The May 1st performance of "Yang Jun-mo's Opera Date" will be operated with socially distanced seating as part of the "social distancing" campaign to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
After the first performance on May 1st, "Yang Jun-mo's Opera Date" will continue with shows on June 24th and August 19th, with the final stages scheduled for October and November. Tickets can be reserved through Interpark and the Jeongdong Theater website.
